The objective of the game is to correctly identify the football player from their club history.
Each day their will be a new game featuring a different footballer.
The player could be retired or currently playing.
You will be shown each club the player has represented during their career, the number they are most commonly associated with at the club, and the position they primarily played in.
Shirt designs are used to represent each club. They are not necessarily representative of the exact shirt style worn by a player during their time at a particular club, but are designed with the clubs traditional colours and kit style in mind.
Most player data will be referenced from https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/ With additional resources used as and when required.
On occasion, some players may have a partial club history due to unreliable data on their time at a particular club. This could include non-league teams from a player's early career journey.
If a player was at a club on loan, or returned to the club for another spell, these will be shown as icons next to the club name.
The game uses an English keyboard, so where a foreign character is used, the English equivalent will be accepted e.g. Ozil for Özil. If a player name has a few different variations, these will also be accepted as the correct answer e.g. Javier Hernández commonly wore Chicarito on his shirt, so both Hernandez and Chicarito will be accepted.
You will start each game with 100 points. 10 points will be deducted from your total for each incorrect guess, meaning you have a maximum of 10 guesses without revealing any hints.
Hints can be revealed about the player, but will deduct points from your total, meaning you will not be able to make as many guesses. You may reveal when the player made their debut at a club for 10 points (per club), a teammate they played with at a club for 15 points (per club), and their nationality for 20 points. If you are down to 15 points or less, you will not be able to reveal any more hints, and must make a guess at the player.
Your total score determines the grade of the shirt card you are awarded. The breakdown is as follows:
If you fail to guess the player correctly, you will not be able to claim that player's shirt to your Locker Room.
After successfully guessing a player name, you can claim one of their shirts and display it in your Locker Room. This feature requires an account - it is free and easy to sign up. In the Locker Room you can keep track of your performance, admire your shirts and share them on socials, and climb the leaderboard to see how you stack up against other players.
In some cases, the game will have a retro 'throwback' theme takeover. This will be used for players who primarily played their football in the 60s, 70s, or 80s.
